What We Look for in a Pearl Piece

At PERLAVELLE, we are interested in the point where a pearl and its setting feel balanced. Sometimes that means a single pearl on a fine chain. Sometimes a small stone or a stronger metal line gives the piece the structure it needs. More decoration is not automatically more interesting.

Proportion is a good place to begin. The same pearl looks different on a narrow band, beside a broad cuff or at the end of a chain. We want the eye to find the pearl without having to work through too many competing details.

That does not mean every piece should be perfectly round or completely plain. A slightly irregular shape can be the reason you like a pearl. A decorative setting can be right for someone who enjoys it. The useful question is whether the parts belong together, and whether the finished piece suits the way you want to wear it.

An online page has a practical job alongside the photographs. You should be able to find the pearl type, the stated dimensions, the setting material and the length or size. A beautiful image cannot tell you whether a bracelet fits. Nor can it tell you exactly how a pearl will look under the light in your home.

We also want the care advice to be useful. Pearl jewelry needs space away from harder pieces, gentleness around cosmetics and the occasional check of a clasp or string. Those details are less glamorous than a campaign image, but they matter once the piece is yours.
